Our extra-curricular highlights
Aboriginal Education
We are proud to be located on Dharawal country where we acknowledge and pay respects to the traditional custodians of this land. Aboriginal culture and perspectives are at the heart ofeverything we do. We are committed to creating a culturally safe, inclusive and respectful environment where all students feel a strong sense of belonging and identity.
We celebrate culture at every opportunity throughout the year - through events, learning experiences and community connections. Our Sista Speak and Bro Speak programs empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to strengthen their cultural identity, leadership and wellbeing. We also run regular culture groups that provide students with opportunities to share stories, learn from Elders and engage in meaningful cultural practices.
Our goal is to ensure that Aboriginal perspectives are embedded across the curriculum and that every student, staff member, and community member can learn from and celebrate the world's oldest living culture.
Samoan Education and Culture
At the heart of our weekly Samoan program, students from K-2 and 3-6 are immersed in the vibrant world of Samoan language and culture. Through songs, storytelling, dance and hands-on activities, children explore the rich traditions of Samoa in age-appropriate, joyful ways.
Younger learners (K-2) begin with simple greetings, Samoan alphabet, cultural dance & songs, and sensory experiences like tapa cloth textures, traditional attire and island rhythms.
Our 3-6 students deepen their understanding by learning basic vocabulary, cultural dances, participating in traditional games and engaging with Samoan values such as Tautua (service), Fa'aaloalo (respect) and Alofa (love).
This cultural journey fosters pride, inclusion, belonging and a strong sense of identity - laying the foundation for lifelong appreciation of Samoan heritage.

Dance Group
We cater to all students from kindergarten through to Year 6 offering a vibrant space where dance becomes a fun and expressive tool for learning and growth. This year, we've embraced a dynamic Latin fusion style, with the exciting rhythm and energy of "La Gozadera" as our anthem.
"La Gozadera" is a celebration of Latin American unity and identity, bringing together the diverse cultures of the Americas through music and movement.
the song invites us to come together in a joyful celebration of pride, creating a sense of connection and community. It perfectly captures the spirit of Curran Public School and our dance group - a place where students of all backgrounds are valued. Students can join in the fun and share in the joy of movement , rhythm and cultural pride.
Join us as we dance, celebrate and embrace the power of dance to unite and inspire!
Multicultural Education
At Curran Public School, we take great pride in embracing and celebrating the cultural diversity that makes our school community so special. Our students, staff and families come from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, creating a rich and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected. This diversity is reflected not only in our classrooms and teaching practices but also in the way we come together as a community to learn from and celebrate one another.
Each year our Multicultural Day is a highlight of the school year, showcasing the vibrant cultural spirit that defines our school. The day features energetic performances such as Bollywood dancing, graceful Fujian dances, the powerful Haka and storytelling, song and dance shared by our Aboriginal Cultural groups.
We are also fortunate to have a diverse team of teachers and support staff, representing many cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Together we foster a school culture where diversity is celebrated, every voice is valued, and all students are encouraged to take pride in who they are and where they come from. At Curran Public School we are committed to creating a community of learners who respect diversity and strive for excellence together.
